Use this when

  • You have a discrete task or a short sprint of one to two weeks.

  • You want a quick second opinion or a small fix.

  • The scope is clear and limited.

How it works

  • We agree on a short scope and provide an estimate based on the hourly rate.

  • Work is billed at $150/HR.

  • Larger bodies of work can be quoted as a fixed amount after discovery.

Examples of common scopes for an hourly engagement

Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace fees

Mail delivery issues, SPF DKIM DMARC setup, shared mailboxes.

Identity and access

Enable MFA for a user group, single sign on for one app, remove stale accounts.

Network troubleshooting

DNS or DHCP fixes, simple site to site or remote user VPN setup.

Backups and recovery

Configure backup for one system, run a restore test, set basic snapshots.

Cloud basics

Add tagging and budgets, right size one instance, secure a storage bucket.

Servers and storage

Create a new file share with correct permissions, small permission cleanup.

Vendor support

Review one proposal or compare two quotes.

Use this when

  • You want ongoing leadership and steady movement across several fronts.
  • Multiple projects, vendors, and maintenance tasks need attention in parallel.
  • You prefer not to manage task by task estimates.

What it usually includes

  • Weekly leadership check in and a maintained backlog.
  • Coordination with internal teams and vendors or MSPs.
  • Security and continuity oversight for access, backups, and recovery.
  • Budget and roadmap updates in plain language.

Examples of common scopes for a monthly engagement

Centralized backups and disaster recovery

Design backup architecture, define RPO/RTO, test restore procedures, document runbooks, and ensure compliance with retention policies.

Identity and access management

Implement single sign-on across applications, enforce MFA, eliminate password sharing, deploy password vault, and establish joiner/mover/leaver workflows with least privilege principles.

Network segmentation and firewall setup

Organize network segments, define firewall policy, configure DNS and DHCP, set up logging, and document allowed network flows.

Site to site and remote user VPN

Establish IPSec links between sites, deploy remote user VPN with MFA, configure split/full tunneling, optimize performance, and set up failover.

Cloud migrations

Design landing zone, set up accounts and roles, configure networking, create migration plan, execute cutover, establish budgets and alerts, and build a secure and cost-aware environment.

How quotes work

01

We begin with a consultation to confirm goals and what is in scope.

02

If the work is simple, we proceed at the hourly rate with a clear estimate.

03

If the work is larger, we run a short discovery and follow up with a written estimate or a fixed amount.

04

The time required to prepare a quote depends on complexity.

If you need

A defined task or short engagement → Hourly

Ongoing ownership and coordination across several workstreams → Monthly

Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs)

We know you have questions. We have
answers to some of them.

Do you provide fixed quotes?
Yes. For clearly defined pieces of work we can provide a fixed quote up front, so you have certainty on cost before we start. For more open-ended engagements we'll agree an estimate range and keep you updated as we progress.
What is your minimum and how do you round time?
The minimum billing is one hour. Time is rounded to the nearest fifteen minutes.
What counts as billable time?
Billable time includes any work we do on your behalf: investigation, implementation, configuration, documentation, meetings, and coordination with third parties. We don't bill for general sales conversations or high-level scoping before you've approved work.
How is the estimate tolerance set?
For each scoped piece of work we'll agree an estimate with a tolerance band (for example ±20%) based on the information available at the time. If we discover material changes or risks that could move us outside that band, we'll flag it early and re-confirm scope and budget with you before proceeding.
